One more year October is pink and so is miMaO. A month dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer, which, unfortunately, is the most common and leading cause of death in women around the world. Although October 19 is International Breast Cancer Day, a movement promoted by the World Health Organization, miMaO has joined this initiative all month long with different solidarity actions.
Since our beginnings, we have wanted to be part of the commitment and social responsibility. In this way, we have carried out different solidarity actions with which we intend to leave a mark in the hearts of our customers. October 19 is a remarkable date in all calendars since the objective is to promote that more and more women have access to timely and effective controls, diagnosis and treatment and that together we achieve the early detection of this horrible disease. Early detection is necessary and essential in order to stop cases before it is too late.
ThinkPink: walking together against cancer
We understand the importance of supporting causes that have a profound impact on the lives of many people. In this case, every October, joining the pink wave to raise awareness about breast cancer, for each sale made, we will donate 5€ to ThinkPink. This solidarity action is not only a financial gesture on our part, but a reminder that we are in this battle together.
Each pair of miMaO shoes represents a step towards hope and support for those fighting breast cancer.
The Dragon Boat: rowing for a better future
In line with this solidarity donation to ThinkPink, there is another initiative that fills us with pride: our support to the Dragon Boat team.
The dragon boat is a form of canoeing originating in China, whose crew is composed of 12 women, in this case, who have suffered from breast cancer. Doctors recommend this sport to these women (and some men) who are recovering from the disease, with the aim of recovering mobility, improving strength and preventing lymphedema of the affected arm. In addition, being a team sport, with teammates who are going through the same situation, increases self-esteem and improves relationships in a complicated time at different levels.
From miMaO we support the Dragon Boat team as an example of perseverance, unity and team spirit. Through participation in different competitions, miMaO raises funds for charities that continue to promote awareness of this disease. The dedication of these women inspires us all to face our challenges with determination and courage.
This year we wanted to accompany the women of Barco Dragón in Casa de Campo, rowing with them towards an improvement in the recovery from their illness. In addition to living the experience together, we have given them a pair of waterproof shoes from our collection as a gift for letting us be part of this experience that has been one of the most emotional we have lived.
